Technically not a part of the RAF, the Empire Test Pilots' School (ETPS) is a British training school for test pilots and flight test engineers of fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft at MoD Boscombe Down in Wiltshire, England. Its motto is "Learn to test; test to learn" and it operated this rare Beagle Bassett in the later nineties.

Delivered to the RAF in June 1972, XW544 entered service with 15 Sqdn at RAF Laarbruch, moving to 16 Sqdn in 1979 and back to 15 in 1982, but spent much of its time hangared due to persistent fuel leaks. Retired to RAF Shawbury for storage in 1984, then issued to 2 SoTT at Cosford as 8857M. To Bruntingthorpe and kept in running condition. The Buccaneer Aviation Group moved it to Kemble in 2020. By October 2025, looking very smart in freshly applied camouflage and remains in running order
