Stored in the care of the Carolinas Aviation Museum on their ramp, now also wearing the name Clipper Atlantis. Note that it also still wears the registration N88892 on the rear fuselage, which dates back to early 2011 when it was briefly used in the ABC television series "Pan Am", painted with a blue cheatline, small "Pan American" titles and "N88892" on the left side only. That registration was in fact not carried by any Pan Am DC-7, but by Pan Am DC-4 c/n 10439.

Delivered new to Eastern in 1958, serving until 1965. Later operated by Travel Clubs. After many years in storage, it was restored to flight by the Historical Flight Foundation, but unfortunately was grounded again in late 2011 after a serious engine failure. This was one of its last public appearances when still airworthy.

Isn't this *almost* like one of those old shots from the 50s & 60s? A classic prop on the ramp, baggage carts and service vehicles in attendance, passenger stairs and a small terminal building in the background. OK, so my geeky aeroplane imagination has run a bit wild but, nevertheless, this was a fantastic day out at this museum.

It may be old-hat for the ground crew but for me, for the first time in my life, to see a smokey/flaming DC-7 engine start-up was quite something that I'll remember for a long time!

When Washington National Airport (now Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport) opened its new terminal in July 1997, it held an open house and invited the public to tour the new facility. Save-A-Connie (Airline History Museum) M404 N145S; Mid-Atlantic Air Museum M404 N450A; and Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation C-54E N500EJ were invited to attend and were open to the public for tours during the event. Sadly, all three aircraft will probably never fly again but they made for a great display during that July 1997 event.

This aircraft was airworthy and flew to many airshows in the early to mid-1990's. Its been grounded for quite a while and mildew has started to form on the vertical stabilizer.
