Delivered to Eastern Airlines as N450A in 1952. To Southern Airways as N149S in 1962. Used by other operators after 1975. To the Mid Atlantic Air Museum in 1991 and painted in its original Eastern colours. Reregistered back to N451A. Was maintained in airworthy condition until around 2000 but is now a static exhibit at Reading, PA.

Isn't this *almost* like one of those old shots from the 50s & 60s? A classic prop on the ramp, baggage carts and service vehicles in attendance, passenger stairs and a small terminal building in the background. OK, so my geeky aeroplane imagination has run a bit wild but, nevertheless, this was a fantastic day out at this museum.

When Washington National Airport (now Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport) opened its new terminal in July 1997, it held an open house and invited the public to tour the new facility. Save-A-Connie (Airline History Museum) M404 N145S; Mid-Atlantic Air Museum M404 N450A; and Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation C-54E N500EJ were invited to attend and were open to the public for tours during the event. Sadly, all three aircraft will probably never fly again but they made for a great display during that July 1997 event.

This aircraft was airworthy and flew to many airshows in the early to mid-1990's. Its been grounded for quite a while and mildew has started to form on the vertical stabilizer.
