The Fairchild 45 was a five-seat executive aircraft first flown in 1935. It was comfortable and easy to fly, yet only 16 F-45A series aircraft were built. One of these, NC16365, was sold to the US Navy as a JK-1. It was used by Rear Admiral King at Anacostia and later on the American west coast at North Island and Alameda. During WWII two more F-45As were impressed as JK-1s and two by the US Army as UC-88s. Fairchild took over Kreidner-Reisner Aircraft at Hagerstown in 1929. In 1956 Fokker signed a licensing agreement with US aircraft manufacturer Fairchild to build F-27s in the USA. While building F-27s, Fairchild independently developed the FH-227 featuring a 6 ft (1.83m) fuselage stretch. N2227L was the first of these off the production line. Pictured in Fairchild house colors, the aircraft was tested and demonstrated by Fairchild 1966 - 74 before sold to Mobile Oil as N2657. Acquired by the Burma / Myanmar Air Force in 1977 with serial 0001, it is currently on display at the Defence Services Museum in Naypyidaw, Myanmar.

Fairchild borrowed a truck from the Statton furniture company to show the potential of the C-82. It was underpowered, however, and it took time to rework the design as the C-119 Flying Boxcar.

Number 1 engine cranks up with lots of smoke to an appreciative crowd gathered for a car and airplane show at the Hagerstown Aviation Museum. Still has the small Hawkins & Powers Aviation logo on the nose.

Ferried from Greybull, WY to Hagerstown, MD in October 2006, this Fairchild veteran was recently joined by C-119G N8093. Remnants of her TWA stripes still remain visible!

Stored for many years at Greybull, WY, this aircraft was bought by Robert Stanford, president of Zenith Aviation, who donated it to the Hagerstown Aviation Museum in 2006. After two years and $95,000 the aircraft was ready for its ferry flight to Hagerstown, where it arrived on 16 November 2008. Still has the small Hawkins & Powers Aviation logo on the nose.

Converted from C-119B 48-330 c/n 10312 to become the sole XC-120 Pack Plane. Most of the lower fuselage removed and additional forward undercarriage added to replace the nosewheel. The pack is being rolled into position. From Fairchild 60 years ago.

The first of four ten-seat Model 91 amphibians built in 1935/36. This example served with Pan American on feeder services on the Amazon and had retractable floats - as shown. Sometimes referred to as the "Baby Clipper". From Fairchild 60 years ago.
