The two-seat reconnaissance/light bomber was powered by a 300 hp Renault 12Fe engine. Inducted in 1917, the type equipped at least 71 Service Aéronautique escadrilles at its peak. Production continued after the war that included civilian versions, with an estimated 8,000 built in all. The Royal Siamese Air Service imported eight aircraft from France in 1919, with additional deliveries taking place later. The type was licence built as the B.Th.1.

Completed by Avro, Yeadon in October 1945, this York is one of two complete examples from the 258 built that survive. Allocated the RAF serial TS798 and delivered to BOAC at Croydon that month, in December it was given registration G-AGNV and was used on 50-seat passenger service to such destinations as Accra and Karachi. In 1950 it was converted for freight and was sold to Skyways in 1955. In October 1964 it made the last ever York flight to Skyfame at Staverton where it was painted as Churchill's LV633. To Brize Norton in 1973, painted in silver as MW100 and to RAF Museum Cosford in 1976
