This Ju-88 was salvaged from a lake in Sweden in 1986 and is now on display at the super Technik Museum Sinsheim, although the forward fuselage is a replica. Note the Wk. Nr. has been also reported as 0881379 and 1301643. Any definitive proof one way or the other would be appreciated.

When the dust of WWII settled, this was one of only two surviving Junkers Ju 88s. Note the familiar BMW logo on the BMW 801 engines, and the antenna forest on the nose of this early Ju-88R night fighter. It was flown to RAF Dyce in Scotland on 9 May 1943 by its defecting pilots, who were probably British agents. The capture of its Lichtenstein radar was of great interest to Allied intelligence.

A Romanian Ju88 in which a young pilot defected to Cyprus in 7.43, being intercepted by four Hurricanes over Limassol. Given RAF serial HK959 and flown to Alexandria then handed over to the USAAF and ferried by air via Acension to Wright Field in 10.43. Placed on display in Luftwaffe colours, which were later changed to those shown here, before being restored to Romanian AF livery; now inside the USAFM

German AF 0881478 built 1942, coded BH-QQ, later recoded 4D-AM. After having attacked two Russian ships it crashed at Gardevarre Mountain near Smørfjord in Norway 17-Apr-1942 after having run out of fuel on the return flight to its base at Banak. The crew had bailed out earlier near Hammerfest. After recovery in 1988 it went to the Norsk Luftfartsmuseum in Bodo where it is displayed approximately as found on the crash site. The ex code BH-QQ can be seen again
