Captured aircraft that was flown to the US via the South Atlantic route. Arrived in the US on November 5. Given the serial FE-106 (foreign equipment) and later FE-1598. Testing ended in 1945 and the final fate the aircraft is unknown. Most sources give the location as Foggia but one suggests Salsola, which was part of the Foggia cluster of airfields. Now closed. The aircraft was initially serialled as BH-QQ, later as 4D-AM. Stationed at Banak (Finnmark) in 1942 with the main task of bombing the Allied convoys between Great Britain and Murmansk. After attacking the 2 Russian navy vessels 'Kiev' and ' Occident', it ran out of fuel during the flight back. The crew bailed near Hammerfest and the aircraft crashed on the Gardevarre mountain. The aircraft was recovered in 1988 and placed on display in about the same way it was found.

This Ju-88 was salvaged from a lake in Sweden in 1986 and is now on display at the super Technik Museum Sinsheim, although the forward fuselage is a replica. Note the Wk. Nr. has been also reported as 0881379 and 1301643. Any definitive proof one way or the other would be appreciated.
