In September, 1910 the Peruvian pilot Geo Chavez became the first pilot to fly across the alps. He accomplished this feat in a Bleriot XI, although unfortunately he crashed upon reaching Domodossola due to wing failure and died three days afterwards. Nevertheless, his monumental achievement was marked by the commissioning of this replica 100 years later.

First Bullet crashed when the wing detached on its maiden flight in 1918, killing the pilot. Christmas made a second one, the one in the photo, claiming at an expo in March 1919 the unflown aircraft had reached almost 200mph during testing. This Bullet fatally crashed out of control on its first flight. Christmas then left aviation having made a lot of money from the US Army Bullet contract. One of Dayton Wright's projects to extend the life of DH-4 production after Armistice. The aircraft was stretched by a foot to make a cabin for two behind the pilot. One can only speculate why it was called the Honeymoon. How many were built is unknown but there may have been only one. A Honeymoon won the Aviation Country Club Trophy Race at Detroit in 1922. The S-6 was development of the S-3 with two forward facing guns above the propeller arc. Guns may not have been operational but mounted to test weight and balance. One S-6 was delivered to the US Army as serial 492. The S-6 was built at the experimental factory at Garden City, Long Island. The photo appears to be at Curtiss' Buffalo airfield as the buildings in the background appear in photos taken the year before Garden City opened.
