Some 70 Chinooks, mainly built by Elicotteri Meridionali, were delivered to the Imperial Iranian Army Aviation ( IIAA) in the 1970s. This one was originally serialled 4-381.

Some 70 Chinooks, mainly built by Elicotteri Meridionali, were delivered to the Imperial Iranian Army Aviation ( IIAA) in the 1970s. This one was originally serialled 4-381.

This is former US Army H-47C 68-16017 (cn B-609) was upgraded to H-47D 89-00130 (cn M3284). It was the first of six Chinooks leased from the US in 2008 for a medium helicopter requirement during Canada's commitment in Afghanistan. A seventh was later leased to replace 147202 that was shot down and burned out in the resulting forced landing. Returned in 2011, the aircraft were replaced with new CH-147Fs starting in 2013. 147201 was acquired by the National Air Force Museum of Canada in 2016 for display.
