Taxiing out to display at Duxford Autumn Airshow 2013. This Warhawk survived the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour on 7 Dec 1941 as it was in the hangar for repairs after a ground loop. On 24 Jan 1942 it crashed on Oahu, killing the pilot. In 1989 the wreck was fully recovered and underwent restoration. It carries the markings of White 284 of the 6th PS, 18th PG based at Wheeler Field. The carburetor air intake is mounted between two 0.50 cal MGs, changed from intakes in the XP-40 oversized gun fairings. The coolant and oil radiator scoop is smaller and set further aft compared to later models.

Built to a 1942 USAAF order, this P-40N-5-CU served in New Guinea with the 49th Fighter Group, 8th Fighter Squadron. It made a forced landing at Siniap in the Ramu Valley on 14 February 1944 and was left to decay there. The hulk was recovered in 2004 and restored to a modified two-seat configuration at Wangaratta, Vic. Currently based there with Classic Air. Registered VH-PFO(2) on 14 October 2015.

Photo is believed to have been taken in North Queensland where A29-625 joined 82 Squadron before being deployed to Papua New Guinea. This photo is from the Northern Territory library and while 82 Squadron had been in the Territory very briefly, A29-625 is shown as being delivered after the squadron moved to North Queensland. The aircraft ended up at Labuan, Borneo, where it was scrapped in January 1946. Photo from: Library and Archives NT

Carried the name 'Skipper' and operated by the 79th Fighter Group, USAAF. On 31st January 1944 the aircraft crashed into the Mediterranean Sea during the Anzio landings while supporting the US Rangers. It is preserved 'as found'.
