This 1978 built Hercules was the 1st "civilian" L-100-30 delivered to the TNI-AU. It was initially assigned to Skadron Udara 31 based at Halim and around the year 2000 transferred to VIP Skadron Udara 17, also based at Halim. SkU 17 is tasked with supporting the transport of Government officials and operates another C-130H-30 serialled A-1341 (c/n 4870) in the same paint scheme. Some five Boeing 737's of different versions are also assigned to Sku 17, while the AS-332 helicopters previously operated by the squadron as well have been assigned to newly established Skadron Udara 45 around 2010.

Departure day for this TLP exercise, brought this attractive looking Spanish Air Force KC-130H to bring the Ala 46 Hornet contingent back to their homebase on the Canary Islands.

Delivered on 17 January 1967 as 10324, this Herk received serial 130324 on 27 May 1970. It was fitted with EW capability - RWR & flares - for the Gulf War in 1990. It was officially time expired on 4 November 2010, already in flyable storage at Trenton by then. Following storage by Cascade Aviation it was reduced to parts and scrapped by November 2021.

This Portuguese Hercules still carries its markings to celebrate 80.000 flying hours on the tail and 42 years Bisons squadron markings on the fuselage. These markings were applied in 2019. I first saw this same aircraft back in 1983, then still as the short C-130H version and in a brown/green camouflage scheme. Amazing, more than 40 years ago! Old aircraft, old spotter...

Climbing away after takeoff from Runway 05 at Glasgow. Carries the markings of 146 AW of the California Air Guard and the green "Channel Islands" tailband of its base at Channel Islands Air National Guard Station, Oxnard, California.

This C-130H, operated by 501Esq, arrived on this Sunday in 1983 at Gilze-Rijen to pick up a military marching band that had been brought in two weeks earlier by 6803. In 2005, this aircraft was extended and became a C-130H-30, then serialled 16801. On the day I uploaded this photo in 2024, more than fourty years after I took it, I again saw 16801, this time at Eindhoven. Still going strong!
