Nice Aurora line-up on the operational apron at Comox. In front is 140110, followed by 140114 and 140118.

With a bit of a rainbow in the top left corner... Note the "AIMP - Group 1" (Aurora Incremental Modernization Project) emblem on the nose. AIMP involves several individual projects to acquire, integrate and install new mission systems and sensors for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance onto the RCAF CP-140s.

Philippine Mars' engine #4 is receiving some necessary TLC. The next day it would be ready for its next mission and be launched onto Sproat Lake, for one of the last times in its career. This venerable lady was withdrawn from use at the end of this 2006 fire season, at the respectable age of 60.

Gulf Air's first 767-300 in pictured heading back to Seattle after official delivery. In the 80s, it was popular to take delivery in Canada and avoid the Washington state sales tax.

In 1954 United Airlines took over a cancelled order for two CV340s by Pioneer Airlines. This one was registered N73154 . Sold in 1968 and converted to a CV580, the airliner would fly for several corporations like Aero Spacelines, Armstrong Cork / Armstrong World Industries and Hubbard Broadcasting. Pictured with Kelowna Flightcraft being prepared for Airfreight NZ with whom it would be registered ZK-FTB in July. Unfortunately, the freighter would crash into Manukau Harbour after taking off from Auckland, NZ on July 31, 1989 during a scheduled / training flight.

Stored at Nanaimo since the mid 1990s. Acquired by the Evergreen Aviation Museum on 31 July 2010 and restored to flying condition. Became N249SB and flown to McMinnville, OR on delivery to the museum on 6 August 2011. Placed on display by July 2012 in fictitious US Navy markings as BuNo 04982, even though it never flew with the US Navy. It is in fact ex RCAF 9815.

Part of the Canadian Museum of Flight collection. This Lodestar was initially displayed at Surrey, BC, but when in 1996 the museum moved from there to Langley, BC, the aircraft ended up here, on temporary display. In Oct 2007 it was dismantled and trucked to Abbotsford, BC for a long-term cosmetic restoration by students of the University of the Fraser Valley Aerospace Centre, which was expected to take 15-20 years. When finished, the aircraft will join the rest of the museum's collection at Langley, BC, Canada. Note the Trans-Canada Air Lines - TCA logo on the nose.

'Captain Hawks leaving Vancouver airport for Los Angeles.' The fourth of the five Travel Air R racing aircraft had longer-span wings and Frank Hawks, who clearly was not superstitious, used Texaco No 13 to set some 200 'speed records' between various cities. Text on the fuselage reads:'This plane has traveled 100,000 miles at an average speed of 192 mph on inter-city flights in the U.S., Canada and Europe.' Barkley-Grow Aircraft of Detroit first flew the T8P (Transport, 8 Passenger) in April 1937. It had a very unorthodox wing construction and fixed landing gear. Skis or floats could easily be fitted, the floats coming with an additional central tailfin. Only eleven T8P-1s were built. Yukon King was one of three taken by Yukon Southern.
