Ex US Army H-25A. Transferred from the Aerospace Museum at Calgary, Alberta. I was advised that the helicopter in the background is Sikorsky S-61L N619PA New York Airways (C/N 61427) which had a landing accident on top of the Pan Am building in New York City 16 May 1977.

It crashed during a STOL landing demonstration in blustery wind conditions. Luckily it only resulted in bent metal with, as you can see, everyone climbing out and walking away. I couldn't get shots of it actually crashing including the momentary fireball as I had to duck to avoid propeller segments flying our way. At least one of the segments smashed a canopy of a military aircraft on static display behind us! See here for all photos.

An enjoyable day, especially arriving in style from Shoreham in the Air UK Piper Aztec 250C G-AYLY seen in the left background. I think it's a shame that this relatively rare type was subsequently converted back to a standard DH82A Tiger Moth.
