Built for the USAF as 44-70273 then civilianized as NC59786 post-1945. Imported for a G.H.Green as CF-JDG in 1956 (was it the first in the fleet?). Cancelled in August 1986 on export as N538DW and wrecked at Bronson Creek/BC on 4 June 1987 when a wheel came off on landing. A subsequent attack from a grizzly bear finished it off. The remains were donated to the B.C. Aviation Museum for use in the rebuild of CF-DRE. (Photo taken while standing on the Chimo Air dock.)

Seen at the Red Lake town docks while participating in the 1995 Red Lake Diamond Jubilee Norseman Festival. Rebuilt in 2004 and repainted in dark colours. Subsequently converted to a wheeled land-based version. Later did a flyby at a Norseman Festival. Was attempting a flight across the country from its base at Strathmore, Alberta. Unfortunately this effort was terminated at Red Lake Airport, where it was parked. Effectively entered open storage there, where it still sits, now for sale, as recently as late 2021.

Ex 44-70509. I also find the background increasingly interesting every time I look. Front row: Fokker Spin III (replica, c/n 5365) and Fokker F-27 fuselage (PH-NIV, c/n 10101). Background: Aeriane Sirocco (PH-2B7, c/n 90-061), HM-14 (G-AEOF, c/n WM.1), Auster J/1 (PH-NFH, c/n 1845, silver fuselage & yellow stripping, with prop), Sagitta 013 (PH-308, c/n 006, white & blue leading edge wings), Schleicher K.8B (PH-393, c/n 8768, red wings & tail), Schleicher Ka-4 Rhonlerche II (PH-375, c/n 3078, white & blue fuselage), Grunau Baby IIb (PH-170, c/n 6052, yellow fuselage). PH-NDC (Fokker S-12) is possibly back there is well, hidden from sight. I think I also see Stearman Hammond Y-1S tails. The yellow metal could be Fairey Firefly TT.I SE-CAU.

The burnt-out airframe of VH-BHF, the result of radio fault on September 17, 1952. Photo is believed to be in the 1950s. In a 1960s photo of the aircraft the wings have been removed as has the aluminum sheet on the undercarriage legs. It was reported as still at Mainoru in the 1980s.

Donated to the museum about 1995.

Two Norsemen operated by Alaska Airlines, possibly at Nome. N54665 appears to be wearing the company's golden eagle badge. Ex 44-70299. To CF-NJV in 1961. Under restoration at the Aviodrome. Ex USAAF 44-70509.

Ex Thousand Lakes Airways. Damaged beyond economic repair at Bishop Lake, Ontario 25 June 1985 when the float struts buckled on take off in high winds and the aircraft overturned. Pilot uninjured. Remains stored in Kuby's Aircraft Ltd yard. This aircraft has since been donated to the Montreal Aviation Museum who plan to restore it to represent prototype CF-AYO.

Ex USAAF 45-41747, NC75938. Last flew as C-FDRD with Wings Aviation in 1981. Registered to Kuby's Aircraft Ltd 26 March 1990. It was refurbished and installed in this position in 1992. A very appropriate 'Guardian' of Howey Bay. It was subsequently damaged during a hail storm 31 July 2017 and taken down for repairs in June 2018 funded by an insurance claim and Red Lake inhabitants.
