Doing a flyby during the last operational flight of a RAF VC-10. Earlier it had carried out some tanking and then flew by various west coast locations that had dealing with the Tens over the years, 47 to be precise. Another one did the east coast. A friend of mine, Aviation Journalist, Richard Gardner is on board taking notes and photos for publishing in various journals.

Arguably the most beautiful colour scheme on a Super VC10. First flown from Brooklands to Wisely, UK 3 September 1966. Delivered to EAAC 30 September and flown to Nairobi via Rome and Cairo 11 October and operated the first scheduled EAAC Super VC10 service 13 October 1966. Written off after hitting a jacking pad on the runway at Addis Ababa 18 April 1972. Photographer unknown

Delivered to EAAC 21 March 1967 serving with the airline until it collapsed due to political interference in January 1977. Flown to the UK in May and sold to the RAF for conversion to K3 tanker in September 1977. Delivered to the RAF 4 July 1984 serving until retired in 2013 and flown to Newquay 28 August 2013 for preservation, registered as N148ZA on 1 November 2021. Broken up at Newquay in late 2023 and moved to St Athan where the forward fuselage is to be preserved at the South Wales Aviation Museum. Photographer unknown

First flew as G-ASGA in 1964. Delivered to BOAC in 1965. Merged into British Airways in 1974. To the RAF as ZD230 in 1981 and stored at Abingdon. Converted to a K.4 and put into service in 1994. Withdrawn from use at St.Athan in 2006 and scrapped.

Delivered to BOAC as G-ASGM in 1968. Merged into British Airways in 1974. To the RAF as ZD241 in 1981 and stored at Abingdon. Converted to a K.4 and put into service in 1995. Withdrawn from use at Bruntingthorpe in 2013 and preserved.

The aircraft is towed by a tug to Terminal 3 at Heathrow
