Registration cancelled on 25 February 2003 as destroyed. During a flight on 8 June 2002 from Chandler, Arizona, both of the left wings separated causing the aircraft to crash killing both occupants. The aircraft was considered to be a write off, being damaged beyond repair. I photographed the aircraft's data plate showing the c/n, date built and the name of the builder, Mike Fisher. So there is something of a mystery here! Is this the original N8205H (which was photographed at Badminton on 14 july 1991 in a very similar, but not identical, colour scheme), or a rebuild from the wreckage of the Arizona crash? Ex Indian AF ZW-4308 (ntu). Delivered to the Nigerian AF as NAF281 on 21 November 2014. Reportedly later re-registered as NAF543. Seen here carrying an MoD serial, presumably crew training with AgustaWestland.

I have recently received confirmation from the current owner of the wreck of the original N8205H that this is NOT the same aeroplane. Enquiries are ongoing, but the suggestion is that the airframe in my photograph is something of an imposter that may never have been flown or registered. See also Photo ID 331637.

The first of eight built. Operated by the Institut Geographique National from Creil from 1957 to 1986. Became F-AZNH, and is now under restoration to flying condition at Melun-Villaroche, France.

Marked G-VAMP but never registered as such. Preserved at Caernarfon Airport Airworld Museum since 1986.

A drone conversion from an FAW2, operated by RAE Llanbedr. Sold in November 1995, and broken up, the cockpit section being preserved. It is now (2020) owned by a private collector in Chatel-Saint-Denis, Switzerland.

Ex WD387. Registration cancelled by the CAA on 31 July 2012, following a landing accident at Sywell on 3 September 2011 when it collided with Vans RV-4 G-IIGI. The Chipmunk was damaged beyond economic repair.

Ex A2597, XS509. Operated by ETPS Boscombe Down from 22 December 1982, and sold on 26 February 1998 as ZK-HVK. Destroyed on 12 February 2001 in a fatal accident during logging operations in New Zealand's south island.

C/n 13560 ex Argentine Army AE-413, US Army 73-22077. Registered as G-HUEY on 23 July 1985. and still current in 2020.

Later scrapped, with the cockpit section being preserved. It is now (2020) at Sywell Aviation Museum.

RAF Church Fenton's gate guardian as 5718M between 1962 and 1975, when it moved to RAF Henlow for use in the Battle of Britain movie as a static airframe. It was later sold as G-MKVB and returned to flying condition, and is now a regular at Duxford's Flying Legends air displays.

Ex DE694. This Tiger Moth was operated by Plymouth Aero Club for 11 years until late 1966. It was eventually sold in 2002 to Switzerland as HB-UPY, where it flew in RAF yellow with the false serial T6991. It is seen here with Auster J/1N Alpha G-AGVF, another Aero Club machine.

Ex VH-EBW. Registration cancelled on 26 August 1992 on sale as EL-AKH, then became PL-TCT, N6546L, and finally 93-1097 as a USAF Grumman E-8C J-STARS. Still current in 2013, operated by 128th ACCS, Georgia ANG.

Ex Luftwaffe 9082.

Ex LX-JON, G-ANDC, R4897. Became G-ERTY on 1 July 1981, and registration cancelled on 2 May 1997 on sale to Germany as D-EXMM. Still current in 2017.
