There is a lot of debate on this aircraft online, especially among modellers. It is painted to represent a famous 39th FIS aircraft that downed North Korean MiG-15s in 1953 and that is available in many model kits and die-cast models. There are reports that this aircraft either went to Taiwan (no reports exist that it actually was there) or crashed in North Korea on 7th April 1953. It is, therefore, unclear whether this is the real 51-12958 or not.

Corporate Jets was an early company offering adversary training with former military jets in Europe. It was quite basic by performing just target tow duties. These jets were operational between 1988 and 1996.

Delivered as an F-86D in 1953. Converted to an F-86L in 1956/7. Struck off charge in 1962. Was preserved at Grayson County TX, Oklahoma City-Will Rogers, OK and then at Perrin AFB, TX before coming to the Southwest Aerospace Museum which closed in 1992. Noted at Oklahoma City-Will Rogers, OK in 1993. Reported to have gone to the, 45th Infantry Museum, Oklahoma City, OK but not noted there. It could be the F-86 marked as 24043 there but that is reported to be 52-3754.

1961 Guynemer Trophy Competition - Leeuwarden, Holland - A Sabre K aircraft of the Italian Air Force undergoes a pre-flight inspection before taking off on an air-to-air firing sortie during the 1961 competition. 53-8288 MSN 207-16. Transferred to the Italian AF, first as MM6200. w/o Mar 4 1965.

Former JASDF 62-7479/479. First noted as a drone in 1991 and preserved at the Museum of Armament and Technology since September 2011.

This F-86 flew with the 3595th CCTW, after which it was preserved at the China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station in and then the Western Aerospace Museum in Oakland. The plane underwent restoration, using the tail from 52-2050, and is on display at the Museum of Flying in California ANG markings depicting 'Operation California Boomerang', when a Sabrejet was used to make a flight in May 1955 from Van Nuys Airport to New York and back in record setting time.

A rare shot of an Italian F-86E. This Canadian-built, but American-funded aircraft was delivered to the Royal Air Force as XB961. It was passed on to Italy (and not to Yugoslavia) in February 1957. RCAF administrative serial 19848 was adopted; no MM serial. 2º Aerobrigata operated the Sabre from 1956 until it was disbanded in 1962. The white nose is the marking of the 14 Gruppo. The Historic Aircraft Preservation Society obtained this CL-13 Sabre 4 but after the demise of the society it morphed into Reflectaire Limited and the Sabre was moved from Biggin Hill to Lavenham where I photographed it late one Sunday afternoon just before Christmas 1969. I don't know when the USAF markings were applied but note the Italian Air Force roundel on the wing upper surface. The first flight was made as RCAF 19607 on 18-Mar-1953. Already in Jun-1953 it went to the RAF as XB733 and in Aug-1956 to the Italian AF as 19607. In Mar-1966 it was registered G-ATBF and that was cancelled in Feb-1979.

Delivered to the RCAF as 19214 in 1951. To the Turkish Air Force in 1955. Preserved by the gate at Eskișehir Air Base by 1985.

This Sabre served previously with the RCAF from Feb-1954 to Aug-1957 as 23105.

This North American Sabre has been on display in Chandler, Arizona since 1961 to commemorate the link with nearby Williams Air Force Base. In November 2021 the F-86D was relocated to the Veterans Memorial Field of Honour near South Lindsay Road and East Chandler Heights Road. It now carries its original serial 51-6261
