In 2015, Swiss Air Ambulance provider REGA had ordered 3 AW169 for all weather operations, including patient transfers accross the Alps at night and in iceing conditions. For this reason, Agusta developped an anti-icing device for the AW169 which did not bring the desired results. Hence, REGA cancelled the contract, leaving HB-ZQZ pictured here the first and so far only AW169 registered in Switzerland. Built in 2015, it was operated by SwiftCopters and later Karen for VIP's between January 2020 and April 2024, before being sold as D-HHBHG to a private owner in Germany.

Picture taken the day this 2001 built helicopter was ferry flown back to ÖAMTC's maintenance facility at Innsbruck airport. In the preceeding weeks, it had covered for OE-XVE which is usually based at Nenzing but was undergoing scheduled maintenance to get ready for the winter season. The ÖAMTC started to operate EC135's in 1997, which since around 2002 is the only basic type the austrian HEMS provider operates. The 1st generation EC135T1's have either been replaced by / upgraded to EC135T2/T2+, while six H135 (EC135T3) have been introduced since 2022.

Delivered new to the Osaka Police Aviation unit (a branch of the Japanese National Police Agency locally known as Keisatsu-chõ) in March 1988, which did operate the a/c till June 2012. Sold to New Zealand as ZK-HHL and operated by Heli Harvest Ltd between September 2013 and February 2017. Since April 2017 with Heli Austria, which currently owns nine Super Pumas of the versions AS-332L (5x), AS-332L1 (3x) and one AS-332L2. The company started to keep each helicopter in a different color. Captured during a rare visit to Switzerland to conduct aerial work on behalf of the Schilthorn cable car.

Air'14 was the event dedicated to celebrate the Swiss AF's 100 anniversary. Lasting from August 28 (arrival day) through September 8, 2014 (departure day), it was the longest Air Show in Swiss history. There was also a lot of flying between the two Air Show weekends, where many different aircraft could be observed. Among them was this French AF Casa 235, one of 27 operated by "Escadron de Transport 1/62 Vercors" based at BA105 Evereux but put under the authority of the European Air Transport Command (EATC). France started to operate the Casa 235 in 1993.

Seen at HeliJet's HQ at YVR international, awaiting its next medical mission. Refer to picture ID 877640 for the a/c's history. Donated to Ukraine in early 2025. Svitlana Kominko, CEO of canadian NGO "Maple Hope Foundation" involved in the project, made an interesting statement (quote): "The donation of a Sikorsky medevac helicopter is not only extraordinarily generous...it is also historically significant, as Igor Sikorsky himself was born in Kyiv and surely had no idea that his invention would (one day) become part of the effort to save lives in his own native country."

Built in 1981, flew for the University of Kentucky Medical Center as N5426U till 1993, then for PHI Inc between 1994 and 2003. Joined HeliJet in October 2003 and subcontracted to BC Ambulance, for which it flew as an air ambulance / HEMS helicopter till February 2025, the month it was donated to war-torn Ukraine. It arrived there in April 2025 and is now being operated by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Ukraine. The donation was made possible by the two NGO's "Maple Hope Foundation" (Canada) and the "Ukrainian World Congress". Pictured in the old BC Ambulance c/s. See also next image.

Founded in 1986 and initially operating a single Bell 412, HeliJet soon took delivery of its first two S-76A's in November 1989. Over the years, about 17 more S-76s followed, making HeliJet one of the bigger operators of this good looking and fast helicopter. The early A-Models have now all been replaced by the stronger S-76C, of which at least six are currently in the fleet, among them this former PHi S-76 (N784P between November 2006 & May 2018), which joined HeliJet in May of 2018. The Vancouver harbour heliport is a safe bet to see several S-76s on a daily basis.

Between May 1996 and March 1997, the TNI-AU took delivery of eight dual seat BAe Hawk Mk109. TL-0102 was the 2nd of that batch, carried test registration ZH954 and initally indonesian serial TT-1202 before being re-serialled to TL-0102. TL stands for "Tempur Latih" which means "Fighter trainer".

Cont'd from previous picture. The end of the cold war in 1990 led Switzerland, like many other countries, to drastically cut the defense budget. This included reducing the number of active military jet air bases from around 12 to currently 3. Recent geopolitical developments led to the decision to temporary re-activate for jet training some of the "so called sleeping bases". In addition, other options are explored as well, resulting in exercise "BERDEZA 2025" taking place between March 31 and April 2, 2025 at Bern airport, which never saw F-18 operations before.

Taxing back during Exercise "BERDEZA 2025" at Bern, a civilian airport with a limited runway length of just 1730 meters and which has never seen F-18 operation before. The exercise took place between March 31 and April 2, 2025 and consisted of 21 landings and take-off of four Swiss AF F-18C's (J-5004, J-5007, J-5016 and J-5025). Even though no adequate hangar space was available to shelter the four jets, they were kept in Bern overnight, as the aim of the exercise was to train adhoc operation away from the jets hombase. Refer to next picture for additional information.

TS-3004 is one of eleven SU-30 operated by the TNI-AU since 2003. Serialled TS-3001 through TS-3011, they are supplemented by five single seat SU-27 (serialled TS-2701 through 2705). The entire Flanker fleet is based at Sultan Hasanuddin AB, South Sulawesi and operated by Skadron Udara 11. Recently, the TNI-AU started to re-serial the Flanker fleet from TS-3xxx (Tempur Sergap = Air Defence Fighter ) to just T-3xxx (Tempur = Fighter).

The TNI-AU operates eleven SU-30 Flankers, all of which are based at Sultan Hasanuddin AB, South Sulawesi and operated by Skadron Udara 11. This airframe was recently re-serialled from TS-3008 to T-3008. TS- stood for the aircrafts role which was "Tempur Sergap" meaning "Air Defence Fighter", and the new T- serial simply means Tempur / Fighter.

Built in 2014, first flew as G-CILP for the HM Coastguard in the UK, before being sold to LifeFlight in May 2020. An image / press release dated December 15, 2020 revealed that the heli has a unique status within LF's AW139 fleet. Equipped with a FLIR and dual hoist, its main task was to be long range offshore SAR missions. However, none of that special equipment was installed when the heli was pictured in this hybrid paint scheme, a leftover from the time it was called - after its main sponsor Land Rover - the "Above and Beyond" / "Land Rover Special Mission Chopper".

March 5, 2025 marked the start of PHI's commercial H160 operation, flying offshore missions for Shell. Built in 2023, N674P is the 3rd of an initial PHI order of 4 H160's, the others being N672P (c/n 1002), N673P (c/n 1019) and 675P (c/n 1032). Airbus Helicopters developed the H160 as a successor to older AS-365 / EC155 Dauphin helicopters, but also to curb the success of Leonardo's AW139. In typical Airbus style, H160 components are now produced all over Europe, e.g. the fuselage in Germany and the Tailboom in Spain, but the final assembly remains in Marignane.

In 2018, the Ventura County FD aquired three former US Army HH-60L Blackhawks, two of which - N60VC and N70VC - were converted to Firehawks by United Rotorcraft in Colorado and delivered to the VCFD in June of 2021. The 3rd Blackhawk - N80VC - was initially used for flight training and later served as spare parts (it could be converted as well if need be). The Firehawk is an incredible fire fighting platform and enjoys increasing popularity with US and worldwide operators, as it simultaneously can be used in the SAR, Rescue and HEMS role, as shown in this image taken during hoist training.

Pictured during lunch break next to the main road at Stuben on the western side of the Arlberg. The pilot door has been modified by the "Maximun Pilot View Kit" (MPVK) designed by Swiss Rotor Services to enhance visibility during external sling load operations. On December 4, 2025, this helicopter crashed near Le Prese, Lanzada, north of Sondrio in northern Italy during aerial work in connection with the Valmalenco landslide. Unfortunately, the accident claimed the life of one passenger, and injured the pilot and two other occupants.

During 2025, the Al Fursan display team of the UAE Air Force transitioned from the italian produced Aermacchi MB-339 to the chinese made Hongdu L-15 jet trainer. The Dubai Air Show 2025 marked the public debut using the new trainer, with the team flying a seven-ship formation. A 2nd L-15 (serialled 780) with a #7 on its tail was displayed in Al Fursan c/s in the static area during the Dubai AS. The L-15 is based on the russian YAK-130 trainer, itself related to Aermacchi's M-346. The UAEAF ordered 12 Hongdu L-15 so far, with the 1st delivered in late 2023, and has an option for 36 more.

The Polish AF sent four F-16C's (serialled 4045, 4046, 4049 and 4056) to Andravida AB to participate in exercise Iniohos 2025. 4045 is seen here returning from a training mission in stunning afternoon light. Poland obtained 36 single seat and 12 dual Seat F-16C/D's as from 2006, with 47 remaining in service at the time of upload (F-16C "4056" was lost in Radom due to a tragic accident on 28 August 2025).

The USCG introduced 42 HH-60J "Jayhawks" as from 1990. Serialled 6001 through 6042, all were modified to MH-60T standard between 2007 and 2013. 6029 had US FY BuNo 163829 and in 2016 was one of six painted in this "throwback" yellow paint scheme worn by USCG helicopters in the late 1940's and early 1950's, celebrating 100 years of Coast Guard Aviation. Starting in 2006, the USCG added former US Navy "Seahawks" - which it converted to MH-60T's - to it's inventory. Confirmed serials are 6043 through 6059, some of which replaced Jayhawks lost in accidents (6017, 6020 and 6028).

Built in 2012 at Leonardo's US assembly plant in Philadelphia, this AW139 was initially registered N818LS, becoming T7-LSS in late April 2014 with operator Skymedia AG (part of the Lions Air Group). Transferred to Lions Air in January 2017 and current at the time of upload. Based at Bern Airport and always owned by Aston Martin Formula 1 team owner Lawrence S. Stroll (hence the T7-LSS registration), the heli is mainly used for corporate flights by the Stroll family within Mainland Europe, but can also be seen quite often at London's Heliport (EGLW).
