This was the third production 1-11 and was delivered to British United in November 1965. It continued to serve after the merger with Caledonian until sale as N101EX in December 1981.

This is the first VC-10 ever built, which first flew on 29.6.62 from Weybridge. Used for development for the first six years then converted from Srs 1100 to 1109 and operated by MEA and BUA. She was damaged beyond repair in a hard landing at LGW on 28.1.72 and was broken up after a period of storage

I can remember seeing this machine as N525EJ regularly cruising up Red One in the late Sixties in its distinctive red Executive Jet Aviation c/s. Here on a diversion to Heathrow looking immaculate while taxiing out along the southside, she was flown by BCal for 15 years from 6.70 and converted to EC-137D for the USAF using its c/n as serial (with year of construction 67 as FY prefix), entering service in 1992. Into storage at DM in 6.02 and still there

I have a series of slides of G-BJZE in various markings although all basically with the same operator. Originally Laker's G-GSKY delivered in 3.79 and leased by British Caledonian when Freddie's pioneering airline went under in 2.82. To British Caledonian Charter a year later (photos follow)

In 8.76 Qantas disposed of VH-EAJ to BCal, who in turn sold it to Uganda Airlines as 5X-UBC in 10.81. W/o Rome FCO on 17.10.88 after striking building while landing in fog

Seen with the Airlink S61 shuttling in from Heathrow behind, the ninth 1-11 built was sold 10 months later as N105EX to Pacific Express

After service with Caledonian and BA, the former 9Q-CLT became N609GC with Gemini in 12.99 having undergone freighter conversion at Naples and was leased to Cielos del Peru 2004-2009 before becoming PP-MTP of MTA-Master Top; scrapped at Orlando-Sandford 2014

The old and the new. On Manchester Aiport's 50th anniversary BCAL's DC-10 races the BBMF Lancaster to Runway 24. The DC-10 is on the LGW-MAN-JFK schedule and the Lancaster, the prototype of which was built at Ringway in 1941, will give a short demonstration flight.

This lovely livery was very short lived, being replaced a couple of months later by a completely different BCal Commuter colour scheme (see other scan) for the remainder of the lease of this single Viscount from BAF from 3.85 to 5.86. Scrapped at SEN 1996

Initially N322F "Pole Cat" with Flying Tiger in 1965, this 707 was bought by Caledonian in 12.68 as "County of Angus". Re-registered G-BDCN in 5.75 and sold to TAAG Angola in 10.77; had three different D2- registrations but dbr in hard land at Luanda on 8.2.88

The fourth BAC 1-11 to be built, delivered to BUA in 11.65, was sold to Pacific Express as N101EX in 12.81. After service with Florida Express and Braniff, latterly as EI-BWI, wfu by BAF at Southend in early 1990 and b/u 1.94
