The Jetstream 61 was an improved derivative of the ATP, with an interior based on the Jetstream 41, an increase in capacity from 64 to 70 seats, more powerful PW127 engines .and greater range. Only four were built (three flown) before BAe's regional airliner production was merged with ATR in 1995, the highly successful ATR 72 dominating all future plans. The registration G-JLXI was chosen to represent J61 in Roman numerals. Scrapped in April 1997 at Prestwick

Presidential Airways was started by one of the co-founders of earlier venture People Express in 1985, using B732s between Washington Dulles and Boston. Eight 146s were added and this one became N403XV on delivery after Farnborough 1986. The airline became overstretched in 1989 and went Chapter 11 late that year. This 146 was returned to BAe and went to LAN Chile in March 1990 as CC-CET but was w/o at Puerto Williams on 20th February 1991 when it overran the runway into the Beagle Channel

This British Aerospace demonstrator was first registered G-WISC in March 1982 and painted in Air Wisconsin's livery to reflect their order. Similarly, in August 1984, it was registered G-WAUS and appeared in Ansett WA's colours at that year's Farnborough. For the 1986 show it became G-BMYE as seen here. Wfu at Filton in 1988 and broken up there in May 1995

Back when Farnborough could still be relied upon to put on an exciting airshow, manufacturer combos like this were an occasional feature. At this time BAe were still able to offer five main types in the civil market and here we have 146 G-BMYE leading 125-800A G-UWWB (from slogan "Up Where We Belong"), Jetstream 31 G-BLKP and 146-200A G-OHAP in Presidential Airways colours. Although the ATP prototype had flown for the first time just a month earlier and was demonstrated at the show, it was not part of this formation

This aircraft and G-AZXK/NZ6364 (in the 1972 Farnborough flying line-up) were among the 10 Strikemasters acquired by New Zealand in 1972, supplemented by a further six in 1975. They were used primarily as conversion trainers until the MB.339 arrived in 1992 and were known locally as "Blunty" thanks to the rounded nose. After serving 14 Sqdn, NZ6365 was retired to become a ground instructional trainer at Woodbourne
