Delivered to the USMC in Q2/2003, and right away assigned to Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron (VMGR) 252 "Otis" at MCAS Cherry Point (NC). The Herc flew up to mid-2012 with the squadron as was then moved to Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 20 "Force" at NAS Patuxent River (MD). It returned to VMGR-252 in early 2018, and when this picture was uploaded, the C-130 still serves Otis. It is seen here resting at one of the platforms of Kandahar during a logistic supply mission for HMM-365(Reinforced) that arrived at Kandahar for a combat tour, while brother 166380/BH-380 just arrives.

This Hercules was sold to Poland as 1513 in mid-2023. It was moved to OGMA Alverca in Portugal for modification in late 2023. By the time of this photo upload, it was not yet reported as a Polish aircraft.

A CONDOR in the Afghan war zone. Line # 07-08 was delivered in 1993 and named 'Boris Naginski' on 29 December 2007 after the Deputy General Manager of Polet. The An-124 was last noted as an operational aircraft in early December 2008. A new CofR was issued on 7 October 2011 burt after a storage period, it Polet suspended operations on 24 November 2014. It was still on register by 30 March 2021 and offered for sale by the Collaterised Property Agency (TsAZI) for US$ 6.8 million. Current state?

About to touch down on Runway 13 at Prestwick as RCH697. Carries the markings of the 463rd Airlift Group, Air Mobility Command and the green "The Rock" tailband of the unit's base at Little Rock AFB, Arkansas. The 463rd AG was inactivated on 1 October of that year, 2008.

About to touch down on Runway 13 at Prestwick, arriving as BAW3577 operating for British Airways World Cargo. Previously N494MC with Atlas Air, who held a minority stake in Global Supply Systems. By 2012 had returned to Atlas Air's service as N477MC.

When this picture was taken, this Kiowa Warrior was most probably assigned to the B Troop, 2nd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment "Banshee", one of two OH-58D units in the Combat Aviation Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division based at Ft. Campbell (KY). This 559 is a refurbished Fiscal Year 1971 OH-58D. After military service, the Kiowa was placed in storage at 309th AMARG on 22 April 2015. It left the storage depot on 18 September 2017 when it was sold as scrap to HVF West at Tucson.

Although no unit markings were carried, this Chinook belonged to the 7-101st AVN. It was deliverdd to the US Army as CH-47B with serial 67-18489 on 20 February 1968. It was converted to CH-47D with serial 88-00074 and redelivered on 27 February 1989. The Delta was then again converted to CH-47F and received serial 09-08069 (c/n M8069) and accepted on 15 September 2010.

Deliverded to the US Army as CH-47A 64-13126 on 21 Apr'65. Converted to CH-47D with serial 84-24165 and redelivered on 13 Aug'85). The heavy lift helicopter was Class A damaged in Afghanistan on 14 Feb'02 in unknown circumstances. It was flown to Frankfurt (Germany) in mid-March 2002, and left for probably Coleman Brracks (Germany) for damage assessment. Apparently it was repairable, so it returned to Frankfurt in Apr'02 and flown as air freight to the USA. It was converted to CH-47F and received serial 08-08053 (c/n M8053). Boeing redelivered the Foxtrot on 30 July 2009.

This Kiowa was delivered to the US Army as an OH-58A with serial 72-21225. The helicopter was converted to OH-58D with serial 88-00312 and again converted to OH-58D(I) Kiowa Warrior with serial 95-00013. It is seen here just for take-off from deployment base Kandahar when serving B/2-17th CAV. The Warrior was placed into storage with the 309th AMARG on 8 May 2015 and sold as scrap to HVF West at Tucson (AZ) on 10 August 2017.

Dust all over, a weathered looking Chinook. Although no badges carried, the CH-47D belonged to the 7-101st AVN. It was delivered to the US Army as CH-47A 65-08015 and accepted on 10 May'66. It was converted to CH-47D with serial 86-01651 and redelivered on 27 Feb'87. The helo was leased to Canada as 147206 (Jan'09-July'11 and returned to US Army and shipped to USA. The CH-47D was then placed into storage with 309th AMARG at Davis Monthan AFB (AZ), 23 September 2011. It departed again for Canada on 18 Nov'16 and was since preserved at Petawawa (Ontario) with 450sq.

Delivered to the US Army as OH-58A with serial 68-16771. It was converted to OH-58D with serial 85-24708 and later to OH-58D(I) with serial 92-00528. The Kiowa Warrior (also named KeeDoubleU) was placed into storage at 309th AMARG on 14 May 2015 and was sold as scrap to HVF West at Tucson (AZ) on 18 September 2017. The Kiowa Warrior is the armed version of the OH-58D and used for nap-of-the-earth flight profiles. The OH-58D(I) seen here is equipped with the distinctive Mast-Mounted Sight (MMS) above the main rotor.

This lovely camouflaged Herk was accepted by the Royal Australian Air Force in August 1978. It flew with 36sq and was moved to 37sq (as pictured) when the RAAF C-17As became operational. The entire fleet of RAAF C-130Hs was retired by late November 2012. The withdrawn from use A97-006 was placed into storage at RAAF Richmond (Australia). The aircraft was sold to Indonesia as A-1330 and was delivered in November 2013. The RAAF Hercules' were often seen at Kandahar, flying logistic missions for the Australian military deployed to Afghanistan, as well as supporting their special ops.

This former US Army Huey (ex 73-21670) was registered to the US Department of State on 20 Aug 2004 as N5207E (not visibly carried), and still current as such by 2023. The Department's aircraft can be used for many types of missions, which vary by location. These may include (armed) drug eradication, interdiction, reconnaissance, surveillance, command and control, medical evacuation, transportation of personnel or cargo. 670 was last noted with the Tennessee Army National Guard, was stored and overhauled at Ozark-Blackwell Field (AL).

The 2nd and 3rd Battalion of the 82nd AVN is operating the Black Hawk in assault and general support roles. Here 491 is prepped for another mission over southern Afghanistan.

Moving out from its parking spot at deployment base Kandahar air field for another mission, this dark green C3A. The Herk, once delivered under the US Foreign Military Sales programme (serial 66-8559) and delivered to the RAF in 1967, was immediately assigned to the Lyneham Transport Wing (LTW). The aircraft made its very last flight for the LTW on 18 April 2013 from RAF Brize Norton (UK) to St. Athan (UK) and was then stored at St. Athan. It was there cannibalized where it was last reported in early 2017.

After a lengthy deployment to Kandahar and some local Forward Operating Bases (FOB) in support of ISAF/OEF, these two 33rd Rescue Squadron were prepared for their return to Kadena air base (Japan). Three months later, the squadron was tasked again for a deployment, when three other Pave Hawks of the 33rd were deployed to Afghanistan. Check the 39 "that others may live" mission marks on the door of this Pave Hawk. The second HH-60G is serial 91-26405/ZZ.
