During its career it served in several squadrons and deployed to Vietnam; during one deployment, on 9 April 1972 , it was severely damaged by a surface-to-air missile and grounded for repairs. Once most damage was fixed the plane flew to Castle AFB, CA, to complete repairs and by December it was back in Thailand flying combat missions over Vietnam. It's last unit was 97th Bomb Wing, Blytheville AFB, AR. November/78: Ferried to the Air Force Museum.
