The Tiny Mite started out as a development of the Culver Rigid Midget glider but by the time it flew in about 1948 it had evolved considerably. Its registration was cancelled in 1965. The old Grand Prairie Municipal Airport was a centre for gliding in the 1950s and hosted the Nationals in 1956. Encroaching air traffic in the busy Dallas area forced the gliders to move by the 1960s and the airport itself was replaced by a new municipal airport soon after. Delivered to RAF as KN550 in May 1945. Seen here being rebuilt by Eagle Aircraft Services at Ringway in 1956, using wing from G-AGIZ. Later VR-AAO, VP-BAH and VP-BBN. Destroyed by fire at Nassau Bahamas 21 November 1960. The ex RAF Airspeed Oxford G-AOUT at right was not overhauled and was dismantled.

Slick Airways operated this DC-6A from new in March 1956 until sale to Eagle Airways in September 1958 as G-APON. It is operating a freight charter for the U.S. Air Force to RAF Burtonwood, Lancashire.

Ex Fleet Air Arm and AST Hamble. Bought by Derby Aviation for spares recovery. Crudely deleted roundels, but serial remains visible. Still extant in derelict condition in May 1958.
