This aircraft was leased seasonally from Eastern Air Lines, where it was N312EA, so it often had a hybrid livery as seen here in July, 1974 at YYZ, Later, with Air Transat, on July 6, 2001 it flew into an intense hail storm over France. Although it landed safely without casualties, the damage was beyond repair and it was written off.

Still in basic Air Transat colors. Stored / preserved at Lyon since July 6th 2001 when she was severely damaged in a hail storm during flight.

This TriStar's active days were ended prematurely when it had to make an emergency landing in Lyon after damage from a severe hailstorm in July 2001. It was later used by Lyon Airport as an emergency services trainer.

On 6th July, 2001, this Tristar departed LYS enroute to SXF. The flightcrew had already requested a change in heading to avoid gathering storms. Whilst climbing through FL190 the aircarft encountered an active storm cell and suffered severe damage to the nose and windshield from hailstones. It managed to return to LYS and land safely but was deemed uneconomical to repair due to its age. Apparently it is still stored there.

lsf Air Transat

Leased to Eastern Airlines in December 1972, this was one of two L1011s shared by Eastern and Air Canada in the winter and summer respectively. Several color schemes were tried until this aircraft kept the Eastern color scheme (and Air Canada added their titles) and the other Air Canada's with only the registration changing. C-FTNA went to Air Transat in 1991 and flown until severely damaged by hail flying out of Lyon, France. The aircraft safely returned to Lyon, was stored and later broken up.

This 1011 was exchanged seasonally with Eastern for many years, which resulted in many combination liveries. When with Eastern the registration was N312EA.
