On 6th July, 2001, this Tristar departed LYS enroute to SXF. The flightcrew had already requested a change in heading to avoid gathering storms. Whilst climbing through FL190 the aircarft encountered an active storm cell and suffered severe damage to the nose and windshield from hailstones. It managed to return to LYS and land safely but was deemed uneconomical to repair due to its age. Apparently it is still stored there. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
