A CH-46A at MCAS Santa Ana, later renamed Tustin, in March 1966. Two large wooden coastal patrol blimp hangars were erected here during WWII and the site became a Marine Corps helicopter base in 1951. This Sea Knight was TOC by the USN in Oct. 65 and served with various squadrons including HMM-164, 165 & 265 before being retired to MASDC during Jan. 72 as 1J037. She was returned to service in July 74 with NARF, North Island & then Cherry Point before finally serving in Helicopter Combat Support Squadron (HC) 6 on board the combat stores ship Sylvania (AFS-2). Now in retirement on display at the National Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola.
