Delivered to United Air Lines as N9020U in 1968. To Air Florida as N68AF in 1980 then to Pan Am in 1982. Withdrawn from use at Marana, AZ in 1990. To the FAA and used as a Visual Inspection Test Bed at Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, NM in 1992. Remains sold at auction in 2020.

Kanton (or Canton) Island was a refuelling stop on the long leg between Hawaii and ports such Fiji and American Samoa. That ceased in November 1965 when Pan Am withdrew DC-7Cs from the New Zealand route. The airport continued to be used by the US military and space agency as a space program tracking base until 1976.
