Built in 1958 this Tupolev 95 is still guarding the gate of the closed airbase at Uzyn. Unfortunately the years of guard duty haven't been kind to the airframe and peeking thru the paint one can see the former Soviet Air Force colours.

The Yak-24 (NATO: Horse) was developed with the intention of keeping pace with US helicopter designs. From 1958, the improved model Yak-24U was produced with all-metal rotors of bigger diameter, an all-metal fuselage and could carry 40 soldiers or 3,500 kg (7,716 lb) of cargo. The exact number built is unknown but production was stopped in favour of the much more capable Mil Mi-6. This is the only surviving airframe and is on display at Monino.
