A display of classic airport equipment, with an Ansett-ANA DC-6B as its centrepiece. VH-INA it was involved in a drama on April 14, 1964, when a propeller blade detached on take-off from Melbourne-Essendon , wrenching the No.3 engine from its upper mountings. It was hanging too precariously to attempt a landing, so the pilot flew out over Port Philip Bay. VH-INA was then put through a series of dives and pull-outs until the engine dislodged. The DC-6B landed safely back at Essendon. VH-INA was sold in December 1966 to Far Eastern Air Transport as B-2003.

VH-INU was one of two DC-6Bs that TAA was compelled to lease from its rival Ansett-ANA as part of the government's Two-Airline Policy. In the name of stability, government owned TAA and privately owned Ansett-ANA had to operate identical fleets to identical timetables and levy identical fares. TAA had to lease Ansett three of its Viscount 700s. The cross-lease ended in 1966 after six years and VH-INU returned briefly to Ansett-ANA service. It was sold in Taiwan in 1967 as B-2005.

"Geneve" is replacing the usual CV240 on the Zurich service because of heavy passenger bookings. It served SR from July 1951 until sale to Sterling as OY-EAN in June 1962. Passengers from another arriving flight walk unaccompanied across the apron - such was the easygoing situation in those days!
