Delivered new to Pan Am June 1960, sold to United Air Lines who operated the a/c from October 1967 through January 1974 with registration N8209U. Sold to Air Transport Leasing in March 1975 and reregistered N711LF. ATL leased out the a/c from 1975 through October 1977 when it was sold to Rosenbalm Aviation. Scrapped in March 1986.

Retired from Delta in 1974, exported to Venezuela in 1979 for Latin Carga w/ registration YV-145C. On 30 November 1980 this a/c crashed on takeoff, killing all four crew aboard. It was on a crew training flight and the incident happened at the Simon Bolivar International Airport in Caracas.

A display of classic airport equipment, with an Ansett-ANA DC-6B as its centrepiece. VH-INA it was involved in a drama on April 14, 1964, when a propeller blade detached on take-off from Melbourne-Essendon , wrenching the No.3 engine from its upper mountings. It was hanging too precariously to attempt a landing, so the pilot flew out over Port Philip Bay. VH-INA was then put through a series of dives and pull-outs until the engine dislodged. The DC-6B landed safely back at Essendon. VH-INA was sold in December 1966 to Far Eastern Air Transport as B-2003.
