Never delivered to TAA and had initials removed from fuselage and tail by December (Photo ID: 3311). The type originally had eight fuselage windows as here, but the FAA later required the addition of emergency exits for commercial passenger use. Result is c/n 231 and on, plus some older retrofitted airframes, have seven windows with a gap between second and third.

Arriving on a high-school charter under a government sponsored system that financed each student one trip abroad to try out their second language skills. (I was trapped in a railway compartment going back to Victoria station with some of these one time and they were all talking to me at once to show off how good they were.) Originally built for Eastern Air Lines in 1957 and scrapped in Sweden in 1969.

The fuselage structure of these roomy twins is similar to its V-tail brother and is expanded to suit the larger aircraft. This explains the three-piece windshield on earlier models with the center section added to make up the difference. They were popular in their day and led to the Queen Air and highly successful King Air series. This 1959 built example is still current in 2020 as N107WS.

Saturn were commonly seen on airways and at UK airports at the time and this particular aircraft was one of the first noticed with the exits outlined in compliance with new FAA requirements. Cessna's first foray into a cabin class twin was the Model 411 produced in 1965 - 68. Not a great success by Cessna's standard, with about 300 made, but at least the nose gear design survives in the 1970-on 310Q. This 1965 example later became F-BUYC and there the trail goes cold.
