Like many Lightnings, XS540 was first flown by Roly Beamont, taking to the air from Samlesbury where it was built on 25th May 1965. The trainer's service career spanned 111 Sqdn, 226 OCU (as seen here) and 5 Sqdn before being given maintenance serial 8534M at Binbrook in 1976 with the intention of transfer to Manston. This didn't happen and it was removed as scrap in September 1987

Seen here during its relatively short service career with 53 Sqdn, XR362 was the prototype Belfast, first flown on 5th January 1964 having initially been registered G-ASKE, marks which were restored for a year in mid-1965 with the Ministry of Aviation. When the 10 Belfasts were withdrawn from RAF service in 1976, XR362 was placed in storage at Kemble. Registered G-BEPE to Eurolatin in March 1977, it was moved to Stansted and then Southend where it became the first to undergo civilianisation for Transmeridian Air Cargo/HeavyLift - see my photo at #20855

Built at Woodford in 1959, this was the second production Vulcan B.2 and the first with Olympus 201 engines, refuelling probe and tail cone ECM bulge. At the time of this appearance it was still on the strength of 230 OCU but became the first Vulcan to have an extended ECM fin tip, becoming a B.2 (MRR) with 27 Sqdn. Scrapped in February 1982 at St Athan.

WT327 was the second Canberra B(I).8 built and was used by Ferranti then the Royal Radar Establishment (RRE) at Pershore. In 1972 a new nose from B.2 WK163 was fitted and the aircraft was taken up by the RAE. In 1997 it was sold as G-BXMO and next year resplendent in its 'Raspberry Ripple' colours was exported to the USA, being allocated N30UP and stored at Lampson Airport, CA along with XH567/N40UP. In 2020, the Vulcan to the Sky Trust purchased WT327 in order to re-fit the nose to WK163 already in their possession.
