An extensive electronic sensor suite replaced the ASW gear, including LLTV, SLAR and equipment to detect vehicle ignition systems. The JMSDF operated a total of 64 P2V-7 (SP-2H) patrol aircraft from 1956 to 1981. The first 16 were transferred from the USN, the remainder either assembled or manufactured by Kawasaki in Japan.
