Bought by Allied Aircraft Sales in 1981 as interest was forming to convert the Albatross for civilian use. Registered N7025V in 1989, the aircraft flew for Air Crane and Island Flying Boats Inc 1989 - 93. A private owner bought the aircraft in 1994 and flew it as a warbird in the battleship gray and white colors from when it retired from the Navy. This color scheme was applied sometime after 2004.
