This is presumably Tenerife in 1953 according to the Norwegian source. The Dakota is ex 42-93461, KG616, G-AJAY. To T.3-67 in the Spanish air force. This is presumably Tenerife in 1953 according to the Norwegian source. The Dakota is ex 42-93461, KG616, G-AJAY. To T.3-67 in the Spanish air force. Former USAAF serial 43-15810 which was delivered on 12 May 1944 and near direct transferred to India on 5 June 1944. The Dakota flew in support of the India China ATC and from 10 April 1946 for the Indian Government. It became VT-CME on 16 July 1947 and was owned by Maharajah Hirai Dr Sir Kameschwara Singh Darbhanga from 20 August 1948 until at least 1957. The Dakota returned to the Indian Air Force in June 1963. From 2000 is was preserved Belgaum but later transferred to Yelahanka AFS. It serves now as a proud gate guard.

Originally delivered to the USAAF in 1944, post war this aircraft was sold to Trans Pacific airlines and then Aloha Airlines before being converted for Ag work in Hong Kong in 1961. It worked as a "topdresser" in New Zealand from 1961 to 1981 and its last such flight was on 20 Jan 1981. It was then restored to military configuration by the "Silverstream Aviation Society" and painted in RNZAF colours, (for whom it never operated), and placed on display at Ohakea airbase. It was removed from display in 1998 and sold, arriving at Gisborne in May 2000. (With thanks to Nigel Hitchman).
