After spending several years in the jungles of Nicaragua after an accident, the remains of this Otter were recovered and sold as scrap. It was, however, rebuilt in Seattle in 1982 and registered N8510T. Registered to Viking Air as C-GTIL in 2007, the aircraft was converted to turbine power. Viking had purchased the rights to the Cox turbine design and finished the engineering to certify the conversion. The aircraft re-assumed the registration N8510T in 2013.

This Otter was the demonstrator aircraft for De Havilland Canada 1962 - 78. It went to work for Lamb Air 1978 - 80 and Ignace Airways 1980 - 92 before coming to Slate Falls Airways. Over the winter of 2004 - 05, Lakeland Aviation converted the floatplane to a turbine powered Vazar Otter and it's current with Slate Falls Airways at the time of uploading.

Although owned by Air BC after 1981, the airline kept operating under it's own name. In 1991, the airline began an expansion with larger aircraft (DHC-6, CV580 and Bristol Freighters) but the expense brought them down in 1993 with C-FRHW sold by receivers in 1993. Another former US Army Otter, this one (59-2217) was delivered February 9, 1960. Next with the Ontario Provincial Police after 1976, the aircraft was transferred to Ontario's Ministry of Natural Resources in 1985. Later in Australia with Tangalooma Transport as VH-TLS 1987 - 89, the aircraft returned to Canada after damaged in a storm. Registered C-FIPC, it had a Vazar turbine conversion in 1993 and went to Ketchikan Air Service as N53KA. Harbour Air has had it in their fleet since 1997.
