Delivered to the USAAF as 44-78525 in 1945. To the Japanese Air Self Defence Force as 51-1116 in 1955. Returned to the USAF in 1976 and stored at Miho, Japan. Sold as N54583 in 1978. Cancelled from the register in 1989. Fate unknown.

Crashed in 1977 after losing an engine during take off. Apparently the aircraft was left in place after removing some usable parts.

This aircraft was one of a few leased to Lufthansa for cargo flights throughout Europe during the mid 1960s. Its former serial 477920 was slightly visible on the tail, and suggests its a former Korean Air Force airframe.

Ca.late 1944 or early 1945: TOS USAAF. 18 September 1947: TOS USAF. Ca.late 1950s or early 1960s: 605th Air Commando Squadron/24th Composite Wing, Howard AFB, Panama. 17 May 68: Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ for storage. 20 Mar 72: Flown to the Air Force Museum, where it was restored to represent a C-46 flying the "Hump" during 1944.

16 Nov '44: TOS USAAF. 1949: Air Force Reserve; used for crew proficiency training. 1950: Sent to Japan, and throughout the Korean War it operated out of Japan and Korea. 1955: TOS Japanese Air Self Defense Force with s/n 51-1121. By February/69 to after November/77: JASDF Flight Check Squadron. 1980: Alaska Rental and Sales with c/r N5579Z. During the next few years Alaska Rental and Sales swapped this plane for a C-118 through the Air Force Museum Loan Program, and on 11 October 1986 a dedication ceremony was held for this plane at the Air Command Park, Hurlburt Field, FL, where it remains on display.

Rolando Canedo founded Lineas Aereas Canedo to fly charters in Bolivia, with this C-46 and restored C-117D. It is seen here stored at Cochabamba in 2013, after plans seemed to have paused.

Delivered to the USAAF as 42-101231 in 1944. Sold as N5131B in 1956 and used by a number of operators. Used by Trans Continental Airlines from 1981 to 1982. To the Mexican Air Force as TEC-6047. I identified and photographed it on the dump at Mexico City in 1996. Preserved at the Explora Center, Leon, Mexico by 2001.

In the storage area at MASDC. Delivered to the USAAF in Nov 1944. Arrived in storage on 18 Apr 1958 with inventory number CN0082. Advertised for sale in Aug 1978.
