This Apache flew an armed protection mission in support of a few Black Hawks and Chinooks. The attack helicopter (former AH-64A 86-08979) was on idle for some 45 minutes at this spot. This Apache and its crew belonged to 2-6th CAV.

US Army Black Hawks were multiple times a day visitors to Kabul International Airport. The helicopters often flew in high ranking military and officials that visited the ISAF headquarters that was situated some 15 minutes from the main gate. This Black Hawl was named old crow, a badge on the nose (not visible) revealed the helicopter belonged to 3-158th AVN.

This military King Air, named Huron, belonged to the Operational Support Airlift Command (OSACOM) Detahment 16 and was part of the Montana Army National Guard at the time this picture was made. The aircraft taxied to the Kabul military ramp, and stopped the left engine. One of the crew jumped out, handed over something to an awaiting military guy, and off the King Air was.

This UH-60L was also unofficially designated HH-60L as it served a medical unit. The HH-60L has a little different nose section compared to the basic UH-60L. The Lima served the 1042nd Medical Company of the Oregon Army National Guard. The unit is structured under the Montana Army National Guard's 1st General Support Aviation Battalion, 189th Aviation Regiment. That battalion is headquartered in Helena (MO), but the 1042nd is based at Salem, Oregon.

This former AH-64A (88-0279, c/n PV598) was converted to AH-64D by 2002 and therefore received a new serial. The attack helicopter received some heavy maintenance in a clamshell at Buehring after some combat weeks in Iraq during Operation Inherent Resolve. At the time this picture was made, the Black Hawk was assigned to the 1-10th Avn Reg/77th CAB. The latter was deployed to support Operation Inherent Resolve , the fight against terrorism in Iraq and Syria. This UH-60A was prepared for transport to CONUS at Camp Buehring. This helicopter was once built and delivered to the US Army as UH-60A in 2000. The Black Hawk was converted to UH-60L after it suffered Class B damage on 17 August 2004 when a fence was struck while taxying at Easton (MD). At the time this picture was made, the Black Hawk was assigned to the 1-111th Avn Reg/77th CAB.
