Delivered to Arkia on Dec 20th, 1969, this machine saw previous service as G-APTB with BUA from January 1960 and Hunting Clan from June 1959. Purchased by BAF for spares in 1989, she was later broken up. Sister-ship 4X-AVE is in the immediate background with a selection of IDFAF transporters further back.

Ex Denim Air PH-FNS, registered to CIT Leasing as G-CIDI 17th Dec 2013 and leased to Arkia as 4X-EMB 13th March 2014. Withdrawn from use LLER (Eilat) 5th Jan 2020 and flown to EHBK (Maastricht) 24th Sep 2020. Returned to lessor as G-CIDI 9th Nov 2020

Arkia's DC-3/C-47's helped keeping Israel's southernmost city - Eilat - connected to the rest of the country in the late 1950's / early 1960's. However, the airframe shown here never carried the registration 4X-AES, which did exist though but had c/n 11923 (USAAF FY 42-92154 > RAF FL562 > HB-ATO > NC74136 > OO-AFB > to Israel DF) and then to Arkia between April 2, 1957 and June 26, 1966. "4X-AES" has since been moved a few miles north to the new Eilat Airport LLER.

Arkia operated two One-Elevens in the late 1970s. 4X-BAR to G-BEKA and Dan-Air adopted the colour scheme with the blue and red reversed! Photo very similar to one in the National Photo Collection of Israel, by Moshe Milner.

This aircraft had a number of different identities. One of them was G-BRYF with Brymon Airways. Last noted stored Toronto City Nov 2017 as C-GNUY of Trans Capital Air.

Still with its Britannia Nordic Swedish registration but owned by GECAS Airplanes Holdings Ltd and about to depart to Israel on lease to Arkia as 4X-BAY for a year. After that, it operated as EI-MON with Monarch, G-ZAPU with Titan and TF-FIK with Icelandair. In Oct 2011 it joined the FedEx Express fleet as N973FD. Still active Nov 2020.
