This slide was taken in the outdoor aircraft display area at the original museum. This a/c is now on display in the current museum but is marked as a different F-86D. 50-477 spent most of it's active duty life bailed to North American Aviation for use in testing, and was retired to the museum in 1957.

This F-86A served with the 4th Fighter Interceptor Group during the Korean War. This slide was taken when the a/c was on display at the main Air & Space Museum on the Mall in Washington, D.C. It has since been relocated and is on display in the Udvar-Hazy Building at Dulles Airport.

This is a combat veteran a/c, having served in the Korean War with the 4th Fighter Interceptor Group.

F-86A 47-605 was the first F-86A built. TOC in May 1948.

This slide was taken at the outdoor aircraft display area at the original museum on Patterson AFB. The a/c is currently on display in the current museum. On 27-28 February 1947 this F-82B flew nonstop from Hickam Field, HI. to LaGuardia Field in New York City. In 1950 through 1957 it was assigned to the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, where it was used for testing ramjets. It was damaged in June 1957 and was transferred to the museum.

Chanute AFB was still open when this slide was taken. After being used as a ground instructional airframe at Chanute, this a/c was put on display at the base from 1949 through 1992. From 1993 through 2015 it was on display at the Chanute Air Museum. When the museum closed in 2015 it was transferred to the Museum of Aviation at Robins AFB Georgia where it is currently on display.

The Fokker F.IV was a large single-engined airliner. Only two were built for the US Army as their T-2 transport. Lt Kelly and Lt Macready made the first non-stop flight across the US, from Long Island to San Diego, in 64233 on 2 and 3 May 1923. The aircraft exceeded its regular maximum take-off weight by 42%! The two also stayed airborne for 36 hours on 16 and 17 April. The F.IV had a single-seat cockpit so a door to the cabin was installed to allow them to relieve each other, with an extra set of controls in the cabin. Originally an HC-130E, this surveillance C-130H was attacked by two Peruvian Su-22s during an anti-drug mission from Panama. Six of the crew were injured and one man was sucked out of the aircraft through a hole. A large hole is visible below the low-viz roundel. According to the Americans, the C-130 was 'clearly marked as a USAF aircraft' - it could certainly have been clearer. It was flown home to be written off. Photo from: Life
