Flying over East Java during the Dutch attempts to regain control. Following the Japanese conquest of the Netherlands East Indies, surviving and newly delivered Dutch Catalinas equipped No 321 (Dutch) Sqn, RAF, in Ceylon (Sri Lanka). This amphibious PBY-5A, original serial Y-75, entered service on 9 September 1942, but hit a rock on arrival at RAF China Bay and sank. It was salvaged and repaired as a transport aircraft. One of six Beaufighters bought by Fairey Aviation for overhaul and resale. Fairey's working party has checked the engines and deleted the RAF serial before ferrying to Ringway. The a/c became G-AJMB/JMG and four were sold to Israel. G-AJMF remained in a hangar at Ringway until it was scrapped in August 1949.

Four Halifax A.IX newly built by Handley Page, stored at Ringway, awaiting conversion to freight carrying and paratroop dropping roles for the RAF. Fairey Aviation carried out 65 such conversions at Ringway between July 1946 and August 1947.

Built by DH at Hatfield in March 1944 and served with 418 Squadron RCAF based at various UK airfields. Sold in December 1946. Overhauled for Turkey by Fairey Aviation at Ringway. Delivered on 11 April 1947 becoming TAF 415 after arrival.

Built for RAF as NR847. Converted for civilian use in August 1945 for Isle of Man Air Services as G-AGUP. Airline taken over by BEA on 1 February 1947. Used on services from Ringway to Blackpool and Isle of Man. The 1938 terminal is in the background.
