Zambian Airways traced its roots to Mines Air Services established in 1948 as a subsidiary of Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines. Changing its name to Roan Air in the 1980s, the airline was privatised in 1998 and started operating domestic and regional services with Boeing 737s and Raytheon 1900Ds. The airline ceased trading in 2009. First flown as N23004, to Roan Air as 9J-MBO in 1998 and Zambian Airways, returned as ZS-SHA by mid 2009, to 5H-SPC with Safari Plus September 2009. The air force soon changed its name to the Rhodesian Air Force to reflect that it was the air force of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland and was later granted a Royal prefix. SR133 then became RRAF700. When the federation broke up in 1963, it went to the Northern Rhodesian Air Wing as 201. After independence in October 1964, the air wing became the Zambia Air Force and the Pembroke reregistered AF201. It is here seen derelict at Livingstone. Photographer unknown

Probably taken on a Saturday as the Air Malawi flight to Blantyre used to be on the ground at the same time as BA052, the Standard VC10 to Entebbe-Frankfurt-London. Delivered to MEA as OD-ACV in 1957. To Central African Airways as VP-YTE in 1961, Air Malawi as 7Q-YDL in 1968, Aviation Equipment, Spares and Service as ZS-KJG in 1979 and Air Zimbabwe as VP-WJI in 1980. Reregistered as Z-WJI in 1983. Withdrawn from use at Harare in 1984 and scrapped around 1992.
