Zambian Airways traced its roots to Mines Air Services established in 1948 as a subsidiary of Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines. Changing its name to Roan Air in the 1980s, the airline was privatised in 1998 and started operating domestic and regional services with Boeing 737s and Raytheon 1900Ds. The airline ceased trading in 2009. First flown as N23004, to Roan Air as 9J-MBO in 1998 and Zambian Airways, returned as ZS-SHA by mid 2009, to 5H-SPC with Safari Plus September 2009. Current in 2025.
