This Mig-29UB, along with a Mig-29 single seater (315 Blue) and the Antonov An-225 Mriya were major participants from the USSR at the 1989 Abbotsford Air Show. Introducing both aircraft types to North America, it was also where CF-18 pilot Major Bob Wade became the first western pilot to fly the Mig-29 (a story from the Glasnost era worth searching out). 304 Blue was seen withdrawn at Zhukovsky airport outside Moscow in 2012.

After it had arrived in the Netherlands a few years before, in January 1996, this Soviet MiG-21PFM moved from Twente to Soesterberg for display with the Militaire Luchtvaartmuseum in Kamp Zeist.

The P-39 Airacobra was sent to the Soviet Union through the US Lend-Lease program in huge numbers, with roughly 5,000 aircraft delivered via a trans-Siberian air route or shipped in crates via Iran. The Soviets found it effective as a low-to-mid altitude fighter and ground-attack aircraft. Over 2,500 of them were flown from the US to Alaska, then across the Bering Strait to Siberia as part of the ALSIB route, a dangerous but fast delivery method. This one, which must have been recently restored at the time, still stands as a monument on that supply route

Rare type even in Russia and certainly in Soviet times. Doubtful that a highly secretive spy plane would be presented a gate guard on a pole until the type was out of service.

This is one of four remaining original Yak-9s known, and the only Yak-9 on display in the West.

In order to tackle short fuel range, the MiG-21SMT (Sapfir Modernizirovannyy Toplivo, "Sapphire Modernized, Fuel Increased") version featured several upgrades including updated Sapfir radar and respective fire control system and most notably a large saddle tank. The "Hunchback" was awkward to fly and so unpopular with Soviet pilots that all MiG-21SMTs were rebuilt into the MiG-21ST variant starting from 1972, featuring the smaller and lighter saddle tank from the MiG-21bis

Two seat version of the Su-25. Possibly the only one built. Withdrawn from use at Zhukovsky by 2006. Still there in 2019.

This is a test and development prototype with the manufacturer's designation T8-15 and the code 15 blue. It was used for the testing of the new R195 engine. However, for the Paris Air Show this was replaced by a standard R95Sh engine because the R195 was still secret, and the code was changed to 301 blue which actually was the Le Bourget exhibit code. In 1990 it was converted to a Su-25BM prototype (Sukhoi designation T8BM-2). It later went to the Central Aerodrome Museum at Moscow-Khodynka and when that closed in 2003 it went to the Museum of Technology of Vadim Zadorozhny in Arkhangelskoye.

This is a replica of the twin-seater Soviet biplane fighter aircraft Kochyerigin DI-6, which was developed in the 1930s by Sergei Kotscherigin and Vladimir Jazenko. The abbreviation DI stands for Dwuchmestni istrebitel (Двухместный истребитель), which means "twin-seater fighter aircraft."

Part of the interesting museum at Oberschleissheim, the Flugwerft Schleissheim of the Deutsches Museum is this Antonov An-2. It is a former Soviet military aircraft and is displayed as such. It arrived with the collection on 19 March 1993.

A former Soviet Air Force MiG-15UTI can be found with the Technikmuseum Hugo Junkers at Dessau. It was first reported here in August 1997. The museum is housed in the former VEB Flugzeugwerke hall.

A very rare and real Yak-3 is preserved with the museum at Le Bourget as part of its WW II exhibition. French pilots flew this aircraft whilst battling Nazi Germany at the Eastern Front alongside Soviet units.
