Converted from a bomber to an aerial refueling tanker, the H.P. Victor proved itself more than once, firstly in the Falklands War, then in the Gulf War. When Iraq invaded Kuwait, No. 55 Squadron, RAF began deploying from Marham, Norfolk, to Muharraq, Bahrain, with eight aircraft in January 1991. The 'Lusty Linda' pin-up nose art is still visible in this picture. Nowadays this Victor is preserved at the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington in taxyable condition.
