Rainbow Air started doing helicopter tours of Niagara Falls with MD 500D helicopters out of a raised helipad in downtown Niagara Falls, NY in 1975. On July 3, 2025, the company unveiled its brand new Rainbow Air Tourism Center heliport and two new Airbus H130 T2 helicopters (N961RA and N962RA). The heliport is near Niagara Falls State Park and features an heated helipad for year-round operations, a spacious hangar, and a visitor-friendly terminal with flight simulators and helicopter exhibits including a Bell 204B/UH-1B cabin in US Army markings. An air tour is 8 to 10 minutes.

Helicopter sightseeing has been one of the attractions in Niagara Falls, Ontario since the early 1960s. The first Niagara Helicopters operated a large flight training school in the 1960s and 1970s were low time students would build time flying tourists in Bell 47s. Today's Niagara Helicopters began as PanAir Helicopter Services which was bought by Reudi Hafen in the mid-1980s. Hafen sold the company to Helicopter Transportation Services in 2012, which introduced four EC 130 T2s in 2015 for its nine-minute sightseeing flights over The Falls. Six new Airbus H130s were ordered in February 2024.

This arrived from Salmon Bay Marina in Seattle about 75 minutes before this shot. The VIH mechanics have wasted no time in removing the main rotor blades and pushing it into the maintenance hangar.

The early Bell 407 production models from 1996 have been replaced by four Airbus - Eurocopter EC130-T2 models in 2015.
