Registered 23 Jan 08. Converted to MRTT for the RAAF as A39-006.

Delivered to Qantas VH-EBH in 1974. To Virgin Atlantic as G-VJFK in 1991 then to Kabo Air as 5N-PDP in 2001. Withdrawn from use at Kano in 2009 and scrapped in 2012.

Delivered new 24th May 1974 and became G-VJFK with Virgin Atlantic 2nd Feb 1991

On final for runway 23 about 1.4 km from the threshold. Converted to A330-202MRTT tanker for the RAAF serial no A39-006.

Despite the fact that at this time EMA was a stronghold for turboprops with jets only being rare visitors, Qantas considered a service to Australia via LHR from East Midlands. The runway was marginal for the operation and the service did actually run from Manchester instead. I believe that this was the first visit of a 747 to EMA. Also visible are a Dan Air Viscount and Britannia Airways 737

VH-EBH was delivered in May 1974 and remained with Qantas until September 1990. It was sold to Virgin Atlantic as G-VJFK.

VH-EBH was delivered to Qantas in July 1961 and withdrawn from use in June 1968. It then sat around Sydney airport for more than a year until sold to British West Indian Airways as 9Y-TDC. The 707-138B was shorter than the normal 707-100, tailor-made for Qantas and in some ways akin to the 747SP in trading capacity for range. But by 1968 improved airports meant the 707-300 could flying all the routes and with better seat-mile costs. Several of Qantas' 13 707-138Bs ended up as corporate aircraft.
