Built by Canadair in 1953 with USAF funding with RCAF serial 19612 allocated, but delivered direct to the RAF as XB738, serving No. 3 Squadron with code 'H'. To Speke on 24 October 1955 and overhauled by Airwork General Trading and painted in USAF markings but with RCAF serial. Delivered to Naples in early July 1956 and onwards to the Yugoslav Air Force.

Ex RAF Canadair Sabre F.4 XB577 'V' of 26 Squadron. Overhauled by Airwork General Trading at Ringway and painted in USAF markings, as they financed contruction by Canadair Ltd under an RCAF order with Canadian serial 19484. No USAF serial was allocated. It was passed to the Italian A.F. and served as 4-09 of 4 Aerobrigata, exploding near Anzio on 11.10.58.

This Canadair Sabre 5 had served 416 Squadron RCAF in Europe from 1955 onwards. At that time it was camouflaged.

Ex RCAF Sabre 4's awaiting overhaul by Airwork for the RAF. AQ-680 and AQ-460 are ex 414 Sqn. 19617 (TF-617) at top left bears the Tomahawk symbol of 422 Sqn and became XB743 with the RAF.

Sabre 31 displayed at the RAAF Museum at Point Cook wearing the markings of 76 (Black Panther) Squadron.

Delivered to the Royal Canadian Air Force in late 1951, serving 439 Squadron in Europe. Serviced and modified at Speke before delivery to the Turkish AF in early 1956.

Greek A.F Canadair Sabre 2 outside Airwork Ltd's southside hangar at Ringway awaiting collection by a Greek pilot. The aircraft had served the Royal Canadian Air Force as 19104 with 410 and 413 Squadrons in Canada.

USAF 53-1206, to Norwegian AF 31206 taken on charge Feb-1958, struck off charge Aug-1967 when it went into storage, to Forsvarsmuseet in 1978, and later to Norsk Luftfartsmuseum in Bodø. It is carrying the 331 Sqn badge and markings

In addition to several hundred F-86Fs, many of which were built in Japan by Mitsubishi, the JASDF acquired 122 F-86D "Sabre Dogs" between 1958 and 1961

This former 167th TFS WV ANG Sabre was acquired on disposal in 1961 by Dan Moyer of Front Royal, VA. Stored for over 30 years before being restored and placed on display at his local regional airfield with "Howdy Doody" nose art on the other side

One of the colourful jets present at the Greek air force museum.

Although marked as 24-287, there is some doubt about this aircraft's true identity as the serial belongs to an F-86D (with the distinctive bullet nose fairing). Displayed near the main entrance to the airbase

Seen at the wonderful Airshow Lelystad 2004. This jet, delivered to the USAF in 1949 as 48-178 and serving as such until 1958, was restored to flying condition during the early 1970s by Ben Hall. He also painted it in the Korean War 4th FIW markings it still carries in this photo. Its current owners bought the jet in 1990 (ex N178, N68388), and first flew it on 21 May 1992. By mid 2017 this Sabre was still flying (now as N48178, still in the same markings), as the world's oldest flying jet!

A very attractive recent restoration. I have written to the Museum to try to obtain the real identity, as the one displayed is probably false, but without a reply. It is ex Danish Air Force F-977 and thus 51-5977
