Late production Varsity T.1 built by Vickers at Hurn in November 1953. It wears code 'NE' whilst serving with the RAF Flying College at Cranwell; also the RAFFC's distinctive blue fuselage band.

Statically exhibited at Heathrow North during QE II's Coronation week. 'B' of 1 Air Navigation School, based at RAF Hullavington. BOAC's maintenance hangars in background with a Constellation outside. The Varsity wears the initial all-metallic scheme with yellow 'trainer band' on the rear fuselage.

Ex No. 6 Flying Training School. Flown as G-BHDD. Now deregistered.

The Varsity was a military crew trainer variant of the Viking airliner featuring tricycle (nosewheel) landing gear. No less than 160 examples were built.

A line-up of 5 FTS Varsities at RAF Oakington in Cambridgeshire, which closed for fixed-wing flying two years later. Becoming an Army barracks, Gazelle and Lynx helicopters were based there between 1979 and 1991, after which the site became a Home Office immigration centre for asylum seekers
