Flight Systems bought nine SAAF Sabres for conversion to drones. However, only one was converted to QF-86 standard. This 352 was one of the eight not converted and has been flying the air show circuit as N186FS and NX1F. This airframe holds the distinction of being the first aircraft to break the sound barrier over South Africa. On display at IAF Museum Palam, this former PAF Sabre was presented by the Bangladesh Air Force to Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria in 2021 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the War of Liberation. PAF Sabres of 14 Sqn. were based at Tejgaon, which was struck around the clock by the IAF in Dec. 1971, rendering the airfield useless. The Sabre was inducted in the PAF in the mid-50s, opposed the IAF in 1965 and 1971 and was retired in 1980. This Sabre has red circles painted around damage done to it.

The South African contribution to the Korean War was 2 Sqd SAAF which initially operated F-51 Mustangs from Pusan AB. From January 1953, the Mustang was replaced with F-86F Sabres which the squadron operated on loan from the USAF until October that year when they were returned to the Americans. The experience was so good that the SAAF procured the Canadair Sabre Mk 6 with the first delivered in 1956. They served with the SAAF until 1980. Canadair Sabre 6 372 is displayed at the SAAF Museum at AFB Ysterplaat as 601/A of 2 Sqd as it would have looked in Korea.
